What makes farm words hard to guess in hangman?
Very short Easy words. Ox has just two letters, and kid and yak three - very little to work from, so every wrong guess hurts.
Breeds named after places. Clydesdale is a district of Scotland, Wensleydale a dale in the north of England, Toggenburg a Swiss region and Tamworth an English town. If you don't know the place, you can't lean on the spelling.
Two-word names on Hard. Five of the ten Hard words are two words - Khaki Campbell, guinea fowl, water buffalo, Belted Galloway and Suffolk Punch - so watch the gap in the blanks.
Spellings that don't match the sound. Khaki has an H straight after its first K, Friesian is said "FREE-zhun" but spelled with IE, and Toggenburg doubles its G.
Tips for guessing farm words

Don't forget Y. It is in 4 of the 10 Easy words (yak, filly, jenny, jersey), and 8 of the 30 words have a double letter, from filly and jenny to Toggenburg and Suffolk Punch.
Think of place-name endings. -DALE (Clydesdale, Wensleydale), -FORD (Hereford), -WORTH (Tamworth), -TON (Orpington) and -BURG (Toggenburg) can help you rebuild the back of a breed name from a few letters.
